The Calgary Flames, formed in 1972 and formerly the Atlanta Flames, have been one of the most competitive expansion teams in the NHL. With a record of reaching the playoffs more often than not, over four Division Championships, and three Conference Championships, the Flames are one of the most consistently winning teams in the NHL. They have even won a Stanley Cup Championship in 1989. Although the Flames originally were started as a rushed team by the NHL looking to balance out there schedule, the Flames have clearly proven that they're no joke of a team. Some of the more notable Flames players are Theoren Fleury, Al MacInnis, and Gary Suter. But, these days the Flames are led by Jerome Iginla, Todd Bertuzzi, Dion Phaneuf, and Robyn Regehr. Each one of these players has been noted as one of the top in their position in their league. So with a team like this, the Calgary Flames may just be headed for another Stanley Cup finish!
